What We're About
FreeLander Bicycles is a huge consortium of multinationals...Okay really it's just me, Daryl.
I live in Nova Scotia, Canada with my family and bicycles. Since that first unsupervised bike ride along Lake Ainslie when I was ten, bicycles became my passion. I love the simplicity of the mechanics and the aesthetics of the lines; but most of all I love where they can take you.
We are new to the the bicycle business and even newer to on-line sales. That means we have a lot to learn. But that is okay. I have a great web designer, a passion for bicycles and for being socially and environmentally responsible; that's a great start.
Bicycle touring is where you will find me when the opportunity arises. I have toured extensively in all Four Atlantic provinces and crossed Canada on my bicycle in 1999. Now-a-days, since I have a young family, my trips are limited to 2-3 days close to home. Most of my recent trips have been with my cycling sister, Kelly, who is awesome to tour with.
I have lived through the ten-speed era and have ridden bikes all my life. I see bicycles as one of the foundations for living responsibly in the 21st century (Read more here: Bicycle Ecology). I like craftsmanship and things that are and were made with pride; there is value in that.
Currently you can purchase our products and bicycles through our on-line store or at the markets we attend throughout Nova Scotia. We will be Tweeting, Face book posting or blogging the location of the markets we will be attending, as soon as I figure out how to do that. Someday I would like to have a shop with comfy couches, coffee and good used books, and bicycles of course. I'll let you know when that happens.
What we want most from this... is happy people riding bicycles and feeling good about themselves. To that end we want to ensure your shopping experience is a good one and that our products and bicycles meet or exceed you expectations.
That's where you come in. Please feel free to email me with questions about our products or your own restoration. If for any reason you are unhappy with your on-line experience or purchase, please let me know. I'll do my best to turn your experience into a positive one.
Thanks and take care,
Daryl
