Chain - KMC Z8.1 8 Speed (grey/grey) 116 Links

Since I mostly work with vintage drivetrains, it's 5, 6 and 7 speed chains I use most often. Next to tires sizing finding the right chain can be a chore. Based on marketing literature I received from KMC, these chains will work with 6, 7 & 8 speed indexed drivetrains. They will also work with non-indexed (6, 7 and 8 speed) drive trains. The "7.1" is the chain width. This is the desired width for 7 and 8 speed drive trains. Six and five speed drive train chains were 7.3. It stands to reason that if this chain works with a six-speed drive train, it should work with a five speed. Why five-speed is not included in the range may be a matter of the variety of five speeds these days. I have yet to use one on a five speed drive train so cannot confirm it's suitability for five speeds. I'll let you know when I do! or you can send me an email if you know the answer... :)
